Tangkubanperahu

26 January 2009

In the upper right corner (east side) resides Gunung Tangkubanperahu (gunung is Indonesia for mountain). Its shape looks like an overturned boat. That’s way it is named Tangkubanperahu (Sundanese; means overturned boat).

The island of Java consists of about 28 volcanoes and largely is situated in the province of West Java (Koesoemadinata 1979).

One of the famous volcanoes in West Java is gunung Tangkubanperahu. It is situated 17 km north of Bandung and and is one of the most active volcanoes in the region during the Late Quaternary (Dam 1994).
